Mr Kenzo is a multi-genre, music curator who performs live DJ sets across the UK and international. Born in London, he is part of the infamous Murkage Cartel – a music collective that formed in Manchester that 10-year weekly club rave called The Murkage Club (2007-2017). Since then, he is continued his love for playing sets across bars, nightclubs, warehouse raves and everything in between.

I’ve done it all.

I’ve been in the music ecosystem since day one. My first rave was Garage Nation when I was 15 at Club Coliseum in Vauxhall, London. I’ve never looked back, always partied since then.

I’ve made music. I produced and self-released a UK Garage instrumental “Piano Roll” that sold zero copies lol. I’ve designed flyers for different circles of promoters and operators in the nightclub / late night leisure industry. I’ve been a club promoter – I produced a Lethal Bizzle & Tim Westwood gig and was way over my head. Out of the 20 raves I’ve done, I lost money on 18 of them. I’ve been thrown out of the Tup Tup Palace in Newcastle twice. I’ve worked in the music industry in different departments. I know the difference between Westbury and Windswept Pacific (IYKYK). I’ve done it all and seen it all.

I never really call myself a DJ but started DJing in Jabez Clegg in Manchester for £50 for 6 hours before the financial crisis – I started playing Dubstep / UK Garage / 140BPM, then 90’s Hip-Hop then moved more into Ibiza House / Afro Tech House. Always had a penchant of playing Acid House and classic party anthems in my sets.

My musical history, my experience in all the different parts of the music industry, as well as my unique non-conforming style of playing live makes me a perfect choice for any event that needs energy and good vibes, to create an atmosphere like no other.

Good question: The music I play is centred around urban music and underground music, but the sets I’ve play is either one of the following genres:

• 90’s Hip-Hop/R&B
• Hip-Hop/R&B/Bashment (All generations)
• Dance / House / Afro-Tech House
• 140BPM / UK Garage
• Low-Fi / Chilled Rap
• Soul / Funk / Motown

I primarily play with USBs and/or SD card on Pioneer CDJ’s.

Pioneer CDJ models that I only play on are below:

• Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus
• Pioneer CDJ 2000 NX2
• Pioneer CDJ 3000
• AlphaTheta CDJ 3000X

I’m primarily based in Leicestershire, but due to lifestyle schedules, I’m available to DJ in London and Manchester, with not much increase in costs. I’m available for private bookings in Europe, subject to fee, availability and contract.

Valid question. I’m all about the music, there was a time where I was on the socials, but I feel that building a persona as a DJ is not something I’m prioritising. Also, DJ’s that focus more on the content creation of their DJ career and less about the music are getting sucked in the toxic algorithm of today, and I don’t want anything to do with it. Hopefully, you’ll hear my mixes, listen to some of my playlists and book me on the strength of my music palette and not on the thousands of followers I have.

Varies again on location and hours being booked for, but please allocate a couple of hundred pounds for the booking.

Of course, if you need me to play all ‘radio friendly’ songs (songs with no explicit lyrics) please let me know, and I’m sure I can accommodate your request

I can only take payments via BACS/CHAPS. If you need an invoice for the booking, please let me know and I can sort.

Payment schedules are

• 50% non-refundable deposit a week before the booking
• 50% at end of DJ set

If the booking is overseas, then the schedule will be:

• 50% non-refundable deposit + flights and travel costs, 14 days before the booking
• 50% at end of DJ set

Of course, depending on location of booking I can sort the technical side and hire external equipment. This will incur an additional cost. I won’t be able to do any equipment hire for bookings outside of the UK

I can make an exclusive playlist mix – a ‘1 of 1’ mix, totally customised for your listening pleasure and delivered as a high-quality .mp3 file which you can put on a USB or removable device and plug in at any decent venue that has an A/V Soundsystem. You will need to see if the location has the tech spec to allow my mix to play. This option is a more expensive option as opposed to booking me to do a live set. You are more than welcome to use an AI DJ for your booking. You don’t need to book me at all. If you’re disinterested in getting someone who brings a party atmosphere to a setting and just need songs to crossfade with no style or effort, then AI DJ is for you. Good luck with your endeavours.
